According to AshleyMadison.com, Oak Park ranks among top Chicago suburbs where people are looking to cheat on their significant other.
As reported last week on OakPark.com, the online dating service, which includes an option for people who want to cheat, ranked Oak Park among the top 10 areas around Chicago where people are looking to cheat on their spouses. Oak Park came in at nine. The results from the geographical study were taken from data collected from the location where the website's clients indicate they reside. The site has over 200,000 members within the Chicago area and a total of 14 million overall worldwide. According to the website, the company does not promote cheating; instead it insists it provides an outlet for people seeking something more in their life.
Noel Biderman, the company's chief executive officer told WGN News that there is a direct correlation between affluence and infidelity. A number of Chicago neighborhoods, with Lincoln Park topping the chart, along with two other cities, Arlington Heights (No. 8) and Naperville (No. 10), made the list.
But Tracy Caldwell, an associate psychology professor at Dominican University, scoffs at such a notion. She suspects the website's methodology was flawed because the group likely didn't undergo a peer review process. The study provides conclusions, she insists, based on an unrepresentative data sample, therefore, the results are unwarranted.
To draw a conclusion that there is a correlation between affluence and infidelity is too simple, says Caldwell, a River Forest resident. Instead, the connection to affluence in this case may be better linked to who uses the websites. This would include those who have access to computers, Smartphones, and monetary resources it takes to be an active member of the service.
