Oak Park should enforce its noise ordinance

How about reminding contractors and landscapers that, by ordinance, they are not to start work before 8 a.m. I continually remind the neighbor's lawn people (Juan Padilla) yet they always come early — 7:30 today and 7:15 last week. I have trouble sleeping and I'm older and if I have managed to fall back to sleep, the mowers go right under my bedroom window. Sure it's only 10-20 minutes and they're gone, but too much for me to go back to sleep and get the rest I need.

The funny thing is they were here last night and I was celebrating the fact that I would be able to sleep a little later. I don't know why they didn't mow last night. Now our new neighbor is doing a room addition, and they seem to start at 7 a.m. every day.

I thought that this letter was going to be about the ghetto rif raff trash bumping their loud ass music in cars that those of us who live along main thoroughfares in the village (I am near the intersection of two of them). The writer of this letter needs to get a life. I've written more productive letters without attacking a particular company that haven't gotten published. Shame on the Wednesday Journal for wasting space by putting this on the website. Maybe my letters weren't liberal enough...

My building permit says that contractors/workers are allowed to make noise between 7:00 AM and 6:00PM; as a courtesy, I try to wait until after 8:00 but it's not required.

Have you tried
