New president for Oak Park Teachers Association

The Oak Park Teachers Association, which represents faculty at District 97, has a new president. Tom Kanwischer was elected OPTA president, taking over for Susan Tresselt, who served for two years. Kanwischer has taught music in D97 since 2002 and is Julian Middle School's band director. He's also a member of the Air National Guard Band of the Midwest and will be stationed overseas this summer entertaining U.S. troops.
