Oak Park and River Forest concluded a three-year run in the Class AA State Softball Finals by rounding out its success with a 4-1 championship victory in 11 innings over Moline at EastSide Centre in East Peoria on Saturday night. The Huskies (35-6) finished third in 2003 and, unceremoniously, second last year after a 6-0 lead was diminished by Lockport.
Ten seniors returned from last season's lineup to lead the Huskies, including Jessica Rigas who drove in the winning run with a single to right field in the 11th inning. Kealon Waldron doubled in Rigas and Ann Schraufnagel singled to give the Huskies insurance runs before freshman phenom Seana Stillson (1 run, 5 hits, 7 strikeouts, 11 innings) closed out the victory.
