A 21-year-old Oak Park man was arrested in the 1000 block of Fillmore Street, the early morning of June 5, and charged with unlawful use of a weapon by a felon.

An officer saw four people walking eastbound on Fillmore Street across traffic and initiated a stop. The 21-year-old began shouting profanities and making threats to the officer, who requested additional units. The man sat down but continued to yell and put his hands alternately in his front and rear pants pockets. The officer ordered him to remove them, but he refused.

The man finally said he had brass knuckles in his pocket, and the officer removed them and arrested the man. Besides the felony unlawful use of a weapon charge, he was also charged with threatening a public official, also a felony, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and being a pedestrian under the influence of alcohol. He was held with no bond.

You all need to stop judging. Person was drunk, and now probably realizing what mistake they made. Everyone makes mistakes, that doesn't mean for every ignorant person out there to criticize them. GET OVER YOURSELVES. Things happen.

Ah, thanks for the condescending response to my typo, which the WJ does not allow one to collect. I'll be sure to run all matters through you in the future, since you're apparently the in house genius.

GUNZ:"If someone has a knife, pull out your knife,or better yet pull out your mace or tazer." Then you advocate carrying of weapons for self defense. Now, my handgun against a person with a knife just might save his life with the handgun displayed as over whelming force without firing a shot.

If someone has a knife, pull out your knife or better yet pull out your mace or tazer. Case closed.

GUNZ:"If we cant stop guns getting into the hands of bad people, then get rid of ALL guns" Bad people will make guns and other weapons to hurt people."They are only good to the good people if and only if someone else has a gun"Some one comes after me w/a knife and I have my gun, case closed."occasionally they might be used form other things" which means there is a reason tom own a gun and not a total ban. Also shooting a mad dog."but not the majority when they are most useful" so you agree a firea

My point exactly. If we cant stop guns getting into the hands of bad people, then get rid of ALL guns. They are only good to the good people if and only if someone else has a gun. Occasionally they might be used against other things, but not the majority when they are most useful. When something is bad for a society dont we try to right the ship and make laws accordingly?

Lets be honest, Guns are not the problem,Allowing LAW abiding citizens to carry is not the problem. Criminals/Gangbangers will aquire guns AND use them nomatter the law states so whats your answer to that Mr Gunz

GUNZ: "I advocate PEACE with no weapons" however the lesson you wanted to teach me was that my handgun kills, and my handgun has not."I'll go as far as saying there would be a lot less criminal death if there were no guns" True. However there would still be death by weapons and, still no PEACE

Posted: June 13th, 2012 3:14 PM

I'll go as far as saying I think there would be a lot less criminal death if there were no guns.

Posted: June 13th, 2012 3:12 PM

I advocate PEACE with no weapons.

GUNZ: So you advocate the carrying of deadly weapons, knives, brass knuckles, acid, but not fire arms so"This would be outcome rather than dead bodies"

Posted: June 13th, 2012 2:27 PM

This should be a lesson for all of you who disagree with outlawing guns. This would be the outcomes rather than dead bodies. Learn from this. Guns do indeed KILL.

Violet, YOU sound like the genius. The fact that you can make assumptions about how much a person may or may not have had to drink, smoke or snort really shows YOUR level of intelligence. Calling me out on "dissing" is funny considering the multitude of post from you profiling people in a similar manner. Look in the mirror you hypocrit.

@Rez: Wow, you sound like a genius! I would imagine that he did such a thing because he was INTOXICATED. Didn't take too much brain power to figure that one out. The fact that you have to dis this character speaks volumes about YOUR "self-esteem issues."

This guy sounds like a complete idiot. Why would a person shout profanities at the police if they were carrying a weapon. 1, his brass knuckles is no match for the officers gun. 2. that's just inviting the officer to search him. I'm glad this loser was arrested without some innocent person falling victim to this loser's obvious self-esteem issues. I'm going to guess that this guy was not top of his class in school.
