We appreciate Wednesday Journal's coverage in the May 1 edition of the OPRF Embrace campaign, which is underway. It's an important reminder that although it's easy to spot what's wrong in our community, there is great value in pointing out the many people, organizations and initiatives that embody the many positive reasons why we call Oak Park and River Forest home.
Through our participation in the Community Leadership Program, under the auspices of Dominican University's Brennan School of Business and the Oak Park-River Forest Community Foundation, we are excited to have gotten the dialogue started.
Now, this is where you come in — please take a few minutes and let us know what you embrace about this outstanding little corner of the world. The deadline is Friday, May 10 for submitting 100 words or a photograph (or both) about what you embrace in Oak Park and/or River Forest. Your responses will be included in a video that we create and show at various venues.
Please keep in mind that no nominee is too "small" — we are greater than the sum of our parts, and most of our parts are small in relation to the whole.
We look forward to receiving your submission on our Facebook page (www.facebook.com/OPRFEmbrace) or through our email at email@example.com.
