Ruth Glos, 101, a very longtime resident of Oak Park, died on April 25, 2014. Born on March 24, 1913, in Chicago, she lived in Forest Park before moving to Oak Park and ran a resort on Washington Island, Wisconsin with her husband, Harry Glos, a sergeant on the Oak Park police force.
She worked in the cafeteria at OPRF High School for 36 years, retiring at the age of 90.
On her 100th birthday, March 24, 2013, her neighbors on the 1200 block of Belleforte threw a surprise birthday party for her. Her motto was: "Just be kind; it matters."
Ruth is survived by her daughter, Renee; her niece, Judy Anderson; and her nephews, Jim Hitz and Rick Glos; and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry; her sisters, Laura Hitz and Charlotte Neubiser; her brother, Frank Fee; and her nephew, Greg Glos.
Visitation was held on April 27 at Drechsler, Brown & Williams Funeral Home in Oak Park. A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Edmund Church in Oak Park on April 28. Interment was private.
