Fenwick senior Gregory Dimailig finished first in the 100-meter dash (12.02) and second in the 200 (23.58) as his team’s top performer in the individual events of the Friar Invite, April 29 at Concordia University.

In one of the best races of the day, the Friars’ Jack Darrow edged Riverside-Brookfield junior Mateo Nunez to win the 3,200. Darrow crossed the finish line at 9:38.31, followed by Nunez at 9:39.09.

Other notable performers for Fenwick included Joe Cozzi (second in the 800/2:03.72), Patrick Barnett (third in the 1,600/4:50.31), Riley Mullen (third in the 3,200/10:17.39) and DeShawn Barr (fourth in the 300 hurdles/52.83).

The quartet of Darrow, Barnett, Brendan Copp and Cozzi recorded a time of 3:39.54 to earn second in the 1,600 relay.

In the varsity team standings, St. Viator won the Friar Invite with 144 points, followed by Notre Dame (115), Fenwick (112), RBHS (93), St. Patrick (60) and Legal Prep Charter Academy (14).

Notre Dame won the frosh-soph level with a score of 174, while RBHS (142) was second and Fenwick third (132).

OPRF boys track & field

The Huskies took second place at the Jim Arnold Invitational, hosted by Glenbard West. OPRF scored 81.5 points, trailing only champion Batavia (90).

Junior Irwin Loud won the 1,600 with a time of 4:21.87. Huskies who finished second included Tyron Jones in the 100 (11:25) and Jack Monaghan in the 800 (2:00.10) and 1,600 (4:30.48). Luke Nelson was second in the pole vault, clearing 14 feet.

The 3,200 relay of Sean Lonergan, Alex Staples, Loud and Kimathi Johnson finished first at 7:46.21.

Fenwick softball

The Friars picked up wins against Resurrection, 8-3, and St. Ignatius, 7-1, last week. Kayley Sherwood (2-for-3, 3 RBIs) and Amanda Lopez (2-for-3, 2 runs scored) starred offensively against Resurrection. Giselle Diaz and Grace Tucek both went 3-for-4 against St. Ignatius, with Tucek also allowing one earned run and four hits en route to a complete-game victory. Fenwick improved to12-8 overall and 12-8 in the GCAC Red.

OPRF softball

Although the Huskies’ shutout win streak was snapped at eight games by Downers Grove North, OPRF still managed a 3-1 victory over the Trojans. Winning pitcher Chardonnay Harris (8-2) threw a complete-game three-hitter and struck out 11.

Sydney Babbington hit a solo homer for the Huskies (19-2, 4-0 West Suburban Silver).

Fenwick girls soccer

The Friars celebrated Senior Day with a 3-0 win over Mother McAuley. Fittingly, seniors Alysia Beirne, Caitlin Josephs and Colette Jaslowski each scored a goal and senior goalkeeper Jane Farrell recorded the shutout.

Fenwick boys volleyball

Senior outside hitters Pat Kenny (5 kills, 3 aces) and Pat Daly (3 aces) powered the Friars past St. Joseph in two games to remain unbeaten in the Chicago Catholic League. Setter Will Sophie contributed 12 assists for the Friars (9-5, 8-0 CCL).
