The Historical Society of Oak Park & River Forest's Second Annual Housewalk: "A Parade of Elegant Homes - River Forest at 125" is now history, and we are grateful to the many people and businesses that helped to make it our most successful event to date.

On a perfect early spring day, 750 visitors walked through eight historic or architecturally significant homes in River Forest's Historic District. They were guided by more than a hundred volunteers who shared the history of these important homes. At the River Forest Women's Club, other volunteers greeted visitors, sold tickets and helped to sell merchandise at the fine arts fair, held in conjunction with the housewalk.

We're especially grateful to WEDNESDAY JOURNAL and the 60 other local businesses who supported the work of the Historical Society of Oak Park & River Forest by sponsoring an advertisement in our program; to the nine local florists who provided beautiful floral arrangements inside and outside each home; to the businesses who provided refreshments for the reception after the housewalk; and to the 20 vendors who sold their merchandise at the fine arts fair.

Finally, we are particularly thankful to the eight homeowners who generously opened their homes and to everyone who attended this event. Your generosity will help us continue the work of the Historical Society of Oak Park & River Forest, a not-for-profit community organization that is the caretaker of the rich history of both communities. This event would not have been a success without you.
