In response to "OPRF 'heterosexual quiz' rankles dad, OPALGA, too" (May 4):
The "Heterosexual Quiz" was written in the 1980s as a consciousness raising tool. The reader of the "quiz" was not to answer the questions, but rather to recognize how silly and offensive?#34;and in some cases meaningless?#34;they are. And then, to realize that these are questions that homosexual people are (were?) asked all the time.
I see two lessons from this unnecessary fuss. One is that perhaps times have changed somewhat. And the other is that, especially with such a sensitive issue, it is easy to misuse and misinterpret sarcasm, and therefore it must be used, if at all, with great care.
