This North Elmwood Avenue home was a winner in last year's Garden Club of Oak Park and River Forest Curb Appeal Contest. Entries are now being accepted for this year's contest.
The Garden Club of Oak Park and River Forest is inviting homeowners to enter the second annual Curb Appeal Contest. Focusing on the view of properties and front yards as seen from curbside, the contest is open to all homes, apartment buildings, churches, not-for-profit properties and businesses in Oak Park and River Forest.
According to a Garden Club press release, residents are encouraged to nominate themselves, neighbors or any properties they think are worthy of recognition. Although professionally designed and maintained properties are eligible, "do-it-yourself" gardeners are especially encouraged to join in. No property is too small to enter.
A new category, "most improved," will highlight changes for the better, so entrants should include a "before" photo.
Last year, 13 winners were selected from 160 nominees. Winners were honored at a special presentation and awards ceremony and party.
Review teams will judge all nominees during the month of July. Winners are selected on the basis of overall maintenance and aesthetic appeal.
To enter, send the address, including the owner's name and phone number if possible, to Carol DeBoth, 1142 Wenonah Ave., Oak Park, IL 60304 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
