Gail L. Duddy, 61, of River Forest, died on May 10, 2014. Born on Nov. 5, 1952 in Elmhurst to Ivan and Lois Duddy, she was raised in Lombard. A graduate of Glenbard East High School, she received a B.A. degree in psychology from the University of Illinois and an MBA in finance and accounting from the University of Chicago.
She began her career at McKinsey & Company as a business analyst and later held consulting positions with William M. Mercer and Arthur Andersen. She joined GATX as director of compensation in 1992 with responsibility for compensation programs and human resource information systems. In 1994, she assumed responsibility for the benefits function, was named vice president of compensation and
benefits in 1996 and in 1999 was named vice president, human resources. In 2004, she served as senior vice president, human resources of GATX until her retirement in 2008.
Gail Duddy is survived by her mother, Lois (nee Kahl); her
cousins, Mark and Marcie King, David and John Melfi and Kathy Wiegand; and her many friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Paul Duddy; and her brother, Paul Duddy.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21 at Drechsler, Brown & Williams Funeral Home, 203 S. Marion St. in Oak Park. Private interment is planned at Chapel Hill Gardens West Cemetery.
