Jo Anne St. Angelo, 74, Former CPS special education teacher

Jo Anne (Richards) St. Angelo, 74, died on April 27, 2012, at Mercy Hospital in Chicago. Born on Oct. 10, 1937, in Joliet to Andrew and Mary Radomski, she joined a convent during high school and earned her bachelor's degree from DePaul University. She eventually settled in Milwaukee where she met and married her first husband and gave birth to her two children. Shortly after the birth of her son, the Richards' family moved to Oak Park, where she lived for the next 30 years.

She was a teacher by trade and spent many years as a special education teacher in the Chicago Public Schools. She remarried in 2002 and was a dedicated mother and loyal wife. She fought a long and valiant battle against Parkinson's disease and eventually succumbed to pneumonia last month.

Jo Anne is survived by her husband, Joseph St. Angelo; her daughter, Jennifer Richards (fiancé Aaron Dellutri); her son, David (Anna) Richards; and a large extended family, including three of her sisters, Bea Matuszewski, Gloria Yakich and Patricia Kraus.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 20, at First United Church of Oak Park, 848 Lake St. in Oak Park. Gifts can be made in Jo Anne's memory to the National Parkinson Foundation, Gift Processing Center, P.O. Box 5018, Hagerstown, MD 21741-5018.
