Goodbye and thanks from the postman

Opinion: Letters To The Editor

After spending 35 years carrying mail in Oak Park, it was finally time to hang up my bag. Some families I knew the entire time and some for only a few years. I just wanted to say good-bye and thank you all for being kind, generous and, in some cases, like family to me. The current state of the company is certainly not like the old days. They now want no personalization or interaction with customers, just speed. Not even accuracy counts anymore.

That certainly wasn't me. I was the Packer tire cover deliverer if you don't know me. So to those of you who did know me, thank you for being part of my life for the past 35 years.

Jim, we appreciate your service and kindness. Our dogs will FOREVER search for the mailman on their walks because of you.
