I just had the pleasure of visiting Oak Park and, more specifically, the Oak Park Arts District. When I owned Bead in Hand, I rarely found the time to be a patron in my own business district. Now that Bead in Hand is in the capable hands of Kim Humphrey, I can relax and enjoy myself when I come to town. I started out with a stop at the Brown Elephant (bought a sweater) before heading to lunch with my friends at the Buzz Cafe.

We enjoyed delicious food, good coffee and great service while we visited. From there I went to Bead in Hand to get my beading supplies — always something new there! Then I got my nails done at Angel’s Nail & Spa — a bargain at $12.

From there I went to Art Gecko, where artist Lisa Nordstrom’s creations are so wonderful — there are so many interesting things on the wall and in the cases, it takes some time to see it all. I found several unique gifts for myself and my friends.

I stopped by the new Society Girls Shop — lots of great clothing and accessory items there. My time was up and I hadn’t been to every shop, but I’ll be back. If you haven’t visited this gem of a business district lately, do so now!
