We are writing to thank Wednesday Journal for its enthusiastic endorsement of Jeff Weissglass for the District 200 Board of Education. We know Jeff will be a tremendous addition to this board at a particularly sensitive and important time.
Some of us know Jeff from his work at Shorebank, helping to guide strategic economic reinvestment in challenged urban communities during the 1990s. Others of us know him from his work as president of Project Unity in Oak Park, fostering mutual understanding among individuals across lines of race, culture and socioeconomic status. Still more of us know Jeff as a recent board member of the Collaboration for Early Childhood, supporting children from age birth to 5 in both Oak Park and River Forest. Yet more of us know him from his national bridge-building work crossing partisan lines to address major challenges, including how to best educate our children and teens. And finally, many know Jeff as an active and engaged parent and citizen in our community.
He is deeply thoughtful and compassionate and a keenly insightful leader with a unique ability to work across spectrums of ideas and personalities to help advance reasonable solutions to challenging problems. Our communities are truly fortunate that he has decided to put himself forward. We need smart, perceptive, bridge-builders like Jeff on the D200 Board.
Again, thank you for recognizing his value to OPRF High School and we encourage all residents of Oak Park and River Forest to support Jeff Weissglass on April 9.
