The personal assets of a superb school board member must include a fair-minded and thoughtful intellect, the capability to thoroughly analyze all facets of a topic, facility with and comprehension of budgets, an appreciation of teamwork, and a distinct focus on students. Tom Cofsky has all these and more.
Tom is a devoted family man and community volunteer for various athletic and service programs. He is a businessman who knows the importance of keen listening, serious debate, and long-range planning for a large organization. As a community representative on the District 200 Advisory Leadership Team, he has acquired a clear understanding of the complexity of Illinois public school funding and is eager to engage our communities in a discussion about finance, including fund balances and how to allocate our resources to promote achievement for all our students. There is no finer, more qualified candidate than Tom Cofsky.
Current board President Terry Finnegan has earned the respect of our communities by his determination to resolve controversial issues, such as the TIF settlement with the village of Oak Park, the modified closed campus to improve student safety and reduce suspensions, and the recent D200 tax abatement. Both Tom and Terry possess a collaborative approach to successful problem solving.
To ensure that our first-class public high school, with the stellar leadership of Superintendent Steven Isoye, has board members dedicated to enhancing this reputation and elevating student success, I ask you to vote for these two superb candidates for D200: Tom Cofsky and Terry Finnegan.
