As a fan of author Malcolm Gladwell, I appreciate how Steve Nations, a candidate for district 200 school board, frames up the issue of the district's large budget surplus. Steve is not against a healthy surplus but rather the level of the surplus which he believes has reached a Gladwellian tipping point. In this case, the level of surplus has tipped public opinion against the school board and damaged the trust between the school board and the taxpayers of this community. While the school board is trying to undo the damage with its recent move to rescind its most recent tax levy, I think the board is in need of someone with the common sense to get it right the first time. Steve Nations has my vote on April 9th.
