Two suspects were arrested in Oak Park within two days of each other on charges of public indecency this week.

Michael J. O'Toole, 46, of the 2500 block of Willow in Franklin Park, was arrested in the 7700 block of Chicago Ave. in River Forest on April 25 and charged with public indecency and disorderly conduct.

A citizen phoned in the report after spotting O'Toole fondling himself in his car, while he appeared to be watching two young girls, approximately 11 years old, play nearby. O'Toole was arrested a short time later.

The day before, Allen J. Dyer, 29, of the 7200 block of W. Madison in Forest Park, was arrested for two counts of public indecency after two separate witnesses reported to police that they spotted a man fondling himself in a parking garage located across the street from the Ridgeland Common playground and soccer field.

Oak Park Deputy Chief Anthony Ambrose said two bystanders were walking by the parking structure when they witnessed Dyer's actions and called the police. A number of people, including children, were playing in the park at the time of the incident.

Ambrose said the two incidents were unrelated, and no children were approached or harmed.

"These are individuals with obvious problems," said Ambrose of the suspects, adding that the arrests were made because of tips from residents. "In both instances, members of the community called the police. We appreciate it. That's what we're looking for, community involvement," Ambrose said.

Sweetie, it was painfully obvious that the guy was joking and trying to tie it in with homosexuality. But I understand you trying to front. It's kind of embarrassing that you took him literally.

Tone plays a big part in sarcasm, which is all but absent in this type of communication. As I said, "double sigh".

Um...in sarcasm there isn't an indication of humor; I think it's pretty obvious when he said "and how dare anyone judge him" that he was joking. As I said before, *sigh*

Violet, double "sigh". There was no specific indication of humor in Gianni's post. He could have ben joking, but there are people who actually believe the kind of ideology he writes. I chose not to jump to conclusions in regards to his intentions.

@OP Guy: *sigh* You really cannot detect sarcasm? Actually, Gianni appears to be a homophobe by trying to equate pediphilia with homosexuality, which is patently false.

If convicted of public indecency will these men have to register as sex offenders?

Are you seriously calling what O'Toole did in front of an elementary school while watching underage girls a "life style choice"? Do you considered watching child pornography a "life style choice" also?

I'm surprised the citizens of Oak Park find this objectionable and coin these two young men as "sick." This is just a lifestyle choice that they were born with and how dare anyone judge them.

They also failed to mention that O'Toole was doing this in his car outside Whittier school. I hope these sickos get more than a slap on the wrist.

Not to mention that there is a photo of O'Toole (the white guy) attached to the TribLocal article.

Yeah, "Sheesh", b/c as everyone knows, the RFPD doesn't take mug shots of the people they arrest....

Yes Mrs. C, you've blown the lid off of this one. The WJ staff has a big-time racist agenda. ...or, maybe they just were not provided a photo by the River Forest PD.

Just curious why no photo of Michael O'Toole? Shouldn't you identify all people committed criminal acts in our town, not just the ones of color?
