Congratulations to Oak Park and River Forest High School volleyball player David Hancock, the Midtown Athletic Club Athlete of the Week.

The 6-foot-5-inch senior outside hitter has emerged as a major force at the net this season for OPRF. Hancock tallied 18 kills in two West Suburban Conference matches against Morton and Hinsdale Central. He has 81 kills, 73 digs, 16 blocks and four aces this season.

"David has really stepped up and played well for us this season," OPRF coach Don August said.

If the Huskies (5-9) make another magical run in the state playoffs reminiscent of last year's Elite 8 appearance, Hancock will serve as a primary offensive threat.

The Midtown Athletic Club Athlete Feature, The Midtown Athletic Club Athlete of the Week and weekly sports calendar/scoreboard are sponsored by Midtown Athletic Club in Oak Park.
