A letter to the citizens of Oak Park:
Thank you to those who supported my candidacy for village president, which ended last Tuesday. I am grateful to many people who gave of their time, money and expertise in support of not just me and my fellow candidates but also of the ideas and platform points that we brought forward during the last three months.
I wish the best to our new president, Anan Abu Taleb, the continuing clerk and five trustees, and the one new trustee, Peter Barber. I am pretty sure there will be some bumps in the road over the next few months, but I am convinced that each will have the best for Oak Park in their hearts when they consider the issues they will face, including those already facing the board, those that were debated in the election, and those that have yet to surface. The latter are normally the most challenging.
I have always trusted the voters of Oak Park at election time. I will say I have not always agreed with them, but I have trusted them — trusted them to elect people who will represent the ideals and philosophies that have made Oak Park what it is today: a wonderful, caring village that serves it citizens so well and is looked to for leadership across our county and other countries.
Finally, I would like to thank the citizens of Oak Park for giving me the opportunity to work, serve and live in what I think is the richest, most diverse, forward-thinking hometown anyone could have the fortune to find.
Best wishes to all,
