Forest Park Commissioner Rory Hoskins said Monday that he will request a discovery recount in the March 20 race for 7th District state representative.

"I spoke to several key supporters. We're not going to concede," said Hoskins.

The County Clerk's Office officially proclaimed Chris Welch the winner by 36 votes in the Illinois House of Representatives 7th District on Tuesday.

Welch declared victory, April 3, when all cast ballots, mail ballots and provisional ballots had been totaled from 87 precincts.

"There was a great deal of community and local backing behind me," said Welch in a press release. "I thank each and every single individual who played a part in this campaign. I also thank Rory Hoskins, Princess Dempsey, and Beyonca Johnson for running a spirited race. I look forward to gaining the trust and support of their voters in the next few months."

Hoskins has until April 16 to file a request.

This is evidence enough of the crooked, self-serving, interest conflicting positioning that lies ahead: http://riverforest.suntimes.com/11324150-417/welch-votes-to-hire-bosss-son-in-law.html. In addition, Welch is going to remain as Board President until the next election! Wait, Hoskins is corrupt because Maywood officials endorsed him? If you think so you won't like to read this: http://nickmoroni.wordpress.com/2012/03/14/proviso-high-school-board-president-secures-jobs-for-friends-family/

@Tom, the campaign is over. And if I were you, I would be careful at calling people corrupt. It takes 7 people to hire someone at District 209. 7, not 1. Also, Hoskins was supported and advised by all the Maywood stooges including Maywood's spokesperson Larry Shapiro. It's safe to assume he would be just like his mentors Henderson Yarbrough, Gary Woll and Larry Shapiro. Ineffective. Hoskins lost because he was not the best candidate. The best candidate won.

Miaundra your argument is ridiculous. You ignore Welch's corruption because people who supported Hoskins are corrupt? Great logic there. Mr. Christian what job are you applying for at District 209? I hear the janitor positions pay well.

Bill, Tom and Rich, do you not care that Hoskins was supported by the leaders of Maywood? Have you seen Maywood lately? These people are investigated by the BGA more than Welch, and it appears the voters of Maywood rejected Hoskins because of who supported him. Welch won Maywood. It appears from the people of Maywood that they have more faith in Welch than anyone the Yarbroughs support. Hmmmmmm....someting to definitely think about.

It looks like the Hoksins supporters can't get over losing...aka...they are a bunch of sore losers. Anyone who has followed Welch's career knows that he is a man of action. He has accomplished a lot in his tenure at Proviso while Hoskins has done nothing. Welch won 7 out of 10 towns. Hoskins won 3. Welch won the majority of votes. Hoskins didn't. You sore losers should save it all for the next election when Welch will be even stronger with the State Dems behind him.

And due to Illinois' new "Sore Loser" law, anyone who merely *voted* in the primary is barred from running against Welch as an independent candidate in November. Surely there's someone in the 7th District who can step forward and run. That might even make up for them not voting for Hoskins in March.

Are you serious? Welch is the most corupt person in the Proviso school district, have people not seen Fox news? Have they not seen that Hillside is tryng to hide his police arrest? Look at his connection to the Village of Bellwood. Anyone who chose this fool should clearly be ashamed of themselves.

Rich was there anything untrue in the reporting? Does Welsh not have 19 friends and family members on the District 209 payroll? Is District 209 not one of the worst performing school districts in Cook County despite having a per student operating expense of over $25k/year? Did Welsh not try to have the district pay for a lawsuit against him that had nothing to do with the district? Should the Forest Park paper have pretended that he is not corrupt?

If only the un biased - biased Forest Park Review did not have Hoskin campaign workers writing for the paper the winning candidate would have a much larger margin. The Forest Park Review has two regular columists namely John Rice and Sharon Daly that openly campaigned for Hoskins. This is a sham and no way for a "independant" newspaper. In fact it is far from one! Dan Haley and his team should be ashamed.

Every last thing counts

Wow, talk about an exciting campaign. Every last hand shake and fake smile into that potential voter meant something. Mr. Hoskins will not forget this for the rest of his days. If only......
