Walter Bossard, 88, WWII veteran, longtime River Forester

Walter J. Bossard, 88, a longtime River Forest resident, died on March 2, 2011 at the Bethesda Home in Chicago. Born in Chicago on Feb. 2, 1923 to Walter and Emma Bossard and raised in Berwyn, he was a 1941 graduate of Morton High School in Cicero and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. A printer at Offset Press Company, he enjoyed photography.

Walter Bossard is survived by his stepchildren, Gloria (James) Cerwin and Barbara (Al) Schrader; his six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and his sisters, Edith Ayres and Ruth Hlavin. He was preceded in death by his wife, Susie Bossard, and his stepson, Donald (the late Judie) O'Neal.

Visitation and services were held on March 5 at Drechsler, Brown & Williams Funeral Home in Oak Park, followed by interment at Elm Lawn Cemetery in Elmhurst. Memorials to the Bethesda Home, 2833 N. Nordica Ave., Chicago, IL 60634 are appreciated.
