Hannah Connell, Miranda Tranmer and Alanna Dassoff qualified for the National YMCA Meet to be held at the International Swimming Hall of Fame in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. in early April.
All three swimmers attend OPRF High School and are members of TOPS (The Oak Park Swimmers) who train and compete at the West Cook YMC in Oak Park. Connell, 17, a junior, will compete in the 100-meter backstroke, while Tranmer, 16, a sophomore, will take on the 100-meter butterfly. Dassoff, 15, a freshman will swim in the 100 and 200-meter backstroke and the 200-meter freestyle events.
The event will mark Tranmer and Dassoff's first trip to the YMCA nationals. Connell has competed in two previous Y national meets.
"These three swimmers have worked really hard this season and over the past few years to reach their current levels," said TOPS swim coach George Adcock. "But it's at competitions like this that swimmers can measure themselves against the best and see that their hard work pays off. Competing in a national meet like the Y Nationals can energize swimmers for the next season."
