Sharon Patchak-Layman is running for Village Clerk of Oak Park. This is a courageous act by a top notch candidate. The current clerk is a good one. So why change? Because we deserve an excellent village clerk.

Sharon's record at District 97, where she is currently a board member, shows her as a voice for reason and accountability. She has served as the conscience of District 97 on more than one issue. She has fought for citizens to be fully informed on how the district is spending our tax dollars. As village clerk, Sharon will be a watchdog for the citizens and businesses of Oak Park. She will assure that information is provided in the required legal time frames and that service is efficient, friendly and accountable.

A village clerk is not just a "clerk." A clerk is the only elected, full time official at Village Hall. Sharon's knowledge of finance, budgets and tax increment financing will serve as information for the board.

Sharon values Oak Park and its citizens. She has shown a keen understanding of the issues people face. She is empathetic and cares about Oak Park.

I am voting for Sharon and I urge all of you to vote for her as well.
