Our schools need Blankemeier

Julie Blankemeier is a highly capable person, and we should elect her for the Dist. 97 school board. Capability is what the Dist. 97 school board needs, not just dedication, kids in the schools, or a desire to serve. These are important also, and Julie has all of them. But Julie should be elected because her capability is measured in other attributes: her smarts; her thoroughness in understanding issues; her courage in asking critical but uncomfortable questions (and her compassionate but unrelenting drive for the answers); and her quick humor. These attributes make her an effective leader. No important issue will go unresolved with Julie in the room. As a Human Resource executive, I especially applaud her advocacy for superintendent and principal accountability. There is no other parent who I would rather see on the board. Please vote for Julie Blankemeier on April 5. We all need her.
