On April 5, please consider Carolyn Newberry Schwartz for Oak Park's District 97 School Board.
I met Carolyn when I was named to head up the 2002-03 District 97 Finance Task Force and she joined us as a Board representative. I was struck immediately by Carolyn's sincerity, by her ability to grasp the issues, and by her willingness to meet those issues head-on. As we proceeded, I came to respect both her dedication to the district and her tremendous work ethic.
Since the completion of our work nearly two years ago, Carolyn has remained committed to the spirit of the Task Force and District 97's fiscal health. And, thanks to her efforts and those of fellow board members, the district has made real progress toward achieving those goals. I'm confident that Carolyn will keep a watchful eye on future developments and insist that her colleagues do the same.
In the struggle to deliver top-notch education amid the reality of fiscal restraint, I believe Carolyn is the right person to balance those objectives and keep District 97 on a wise course.
