A private hearing will be conducted prior to the District 97 Board of Education meeting tonight to determine the fate of Brooks Principal Flora Green.
Green was given notice that she may be reclassified as a teacher and requested the hearing. Pending the outcome of the private hearing, she could request a public hearing.
The board plans to vote on the reclassification at Wednesday's meeting, which will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Brooks Commons.
When the board voted to notify Green of the reclassification at its March 9 meeting, supporters of the principal urged the board not to do so.
Board President Ade Onayemi has said he'd like to decide the matter before the April 5 election. Tonight's meeting is the last scheduled board meeting before the election.
The board is also expected tonight to approve a principals' contract, on hold since appearing on the Dec. 1 agenda, when no action taken. Superintendent John Fagan has said that the Green reclassification did not affect the timing of the principals' contract.
