James Hannigan, 81, Army veteran, retired public relations manager

James Edward Hannigan, 81, a 15-year resident of Carolina Shores, N.C., and former longtime resident of Oak Park, died on March 12, 2012 in Grand Strand Regional Medical Center. Born in Chicago on Jan. 29, 1931 to the late Frank and Catherine (nee Schlosser) Hannigan, he was a retired public relations manager and a veteran of the U.S. Army.

James Hannigan is survived by his wife, Carol Orth Hannigan; his children, James E. (Susan) Hannigan Jr. M.D., Michael (Kimi) Hannigan, Kathi (David) Seibty, Christine Hannigan, Lori (Rose Mireles) Hannigan, Jennifer (Edward) Davidson, Sara (Michael) Rowe, and Suzanne (Sean) Duffy; 15 grandchildren; and his siblings, Philip (Marian) Hannigan, Jeanette (Thomas) Wood, Mary (Richard) Huber, and Elizabeth Hannigan (Richard Sachs). He was preceded in death by his son, Robert (Patricia) Hannigan and his sister, Joan (the late Robert) Brock.

Memorial visitation and services were held on March 20 at Drechsler, Brown & Williams Funeral Home in Oak Park. Interment was private.
