I'm an ex-Chicagoan. Thus, I have a strong familiarity with its politics, its neighborhoods, its tomorrows and its promise. With this in mind, permit me to talk about Anan Abu-Taleb.
The question is will he make a good president of Oak Park? You betcha! Will he make a great president of Oak Park? You betcha!
Anan is much more than a successful businessman. He is a passionate one. Each customer at his restaurant is treated as though he/she were sitting at his family table. But more so, his staff adores him and will contentedly go the extra two miles when necessary. How many other employers can make that statement?
Anan is a man of integrity, passion, drive and heartfelt concern for the world around him. He treats everyone as his equal regardless of race, politics, nationality or education. I have also seen him in difficult situations where lesser men would break down and curse their lot. But Anan constantly remains poised and grounded with the resources to work the problem to an understandable and proper solution.
He is a man of intense and devoted friendship. I not only cherish my relationship with him, I prize and value it beyond measure. There are very few like him in this world. I urge his election.

Issues with village president being the liquor commissioner aside, I also think Mr. Abu-Taleb would make a fine village president. It's about time that the village started operating a little more like a business. Maybe he can even find a way to cut the taxes a bit while still offering the same services.
