I am writing to urge Oak Park voters to elect Vic Guarino to the District 97 board. Vic's passion for making public education the best it can be is evident to all who know him. He has served on parent advisory groups at the district level. He has also been active in the Irving community for several years, most recently as PTO Co-Vice President, and as a founding member of Irving's Learning Community Initiative.

I have been working closely with Vic on the Learning Community Initiative, and I have been impressed with his willingness to research a topic, keep an open mind, and listen to many different viewpoints. He is an independent thinker with good common sense, and I believe these qualities would make him a constructive board member.

Vic is ready to tackle the minority student achievement gap in our District 97 schools. This shows courage and a willingness to address one of the tough issues facing the new board. Electing Vic Guarino to the D97 board will make our schools even better.
