Barbara Griffin, 81, formerly of River Forest, died on March 9, 2013. Born on Dec. 4, 1931 in Chicago, she was one of three girls born to Charles and Lucille Griffin. After graduating with a math degree from Rosary College, she made River Forest her home from 1968-2003. She worked as an accountant for the federal government until her retirement in 1993. She enjoyed reading, art and bird watching.
She is survived by her sister Jeanne (the late Dennis) Crowe and was preceded in death by her sister Patricia (the late Robert) White. She is also survived by her nieces Lou Anne (Christen) White-Johannesson, Patricia White, Ann (Steve) Heimerman, Nora Crowe, and many great-nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on March 18 from 9:15 a.m. until time of the Mass, 10 a.m., at St. Giles Church, 1045 Columbian Ave., Oak Park. Private interment will take place at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Giles Parish are appreciated. Arrangements were handled by Drechsler, Brown & Williams Funeral Home.
