The Office of the Keeper of the Records is a remarkably quite office when it comes to public disclosures about activities. Where are the records, how these are managed, and plans for improvements are non-existent. Additionally, any and all efforts and success by the Clerk as a Deputy Voter Registrar is without references. What has been done historically is a difficult thing to determine. As the Local Election Official, which is a part of the duties of the office, it is important that we have metrics by which to evaluate ourselves. Finally, the Clerk has an office that appears to be the only operational unit in Village Hall that lacks the responsibility of reporting its activities to the public. It is also the only operational office that I have been told routinely gets a pass from attending operational meetings held by the Village Manager. I propose the end to the invisibility and lack of accountability. The productivity and contribution of the Office of the Clerk needs to be known throughout the community. Taxpayers pay for the operations of the Office of the Village Clerk. What are the deliverables? Oak Park deserves greater transparency for its operations. If not now, when?
