A Lincoln Park vacuum cleaner store is expanding locally, opening its second location in Oak Park later this month.

Best Vacuum will take over the space once occupied by Madly Pop'n (148 N. Oak Park Ave.), which closed last spring after 26 years in business.

The retailer has been in business in Chicago for the last 20 years, and saw room to grow in the suburbs. They plan to open the new location on March 14, offering vacuum brands such as Miele, Sebo, Electrolux and Dyson, as well as air purifiers.

Commercial real estate agent David King, who helped Best Vacuum find this location, announced the store's expansion in a press release last week.

Best Vacuum Customer from River Forest

When I bought a couple of new vacuums a few years ago, I shopped their Lincoln Park store because no local store had a good selection or service. Best Vacuum is a great store and has excellent customer service which is why they will succeed. They also offer repairs and always have replacement filters and bags in stock and go out of their way to make sure you are happy. They also sell some other household appliances as well.

I for one am happy to welcome the vacuum store. i was sad when the last one closed, and I was stuck with the horrible sears center. what on earth is wrong with you negative naysayers. Do you hate oak park? Do you just sit on your butts wishing for its retail to die? Get out of your house and shop local.

Good luck to Best Vacum. It is a little ironic that local township officials cited a failed vacum cleaner store a block away as evidence that the building they are buying is not suitable for a retail business. The announcement of the new business and the township's remarks come within days of each other. No wonder all the retail businesses are moving to Forest Park.

Next up: a store devoted to 8-track tapes down the block...LOL, typical OP madness!

A business devoted solely to vacuums? I'm sure they'll do as well as a business devoted solely to printer cartridges....

A vacuum cleaner store was cited as evidence of blight on S. Oak Park Ave. in order to justify Pope's multi-million street improvements TIF scheme. Quick, alert the TIF police of this new vacuum cleaner store and send a SWAT team of planners and ad hoc committees to make plans to pave over N. Oak Park Ave. with bricks before this situation gets out of control!

"Township Assessor Ali ElSaffar pointed out that ... a vacuum supply store and a Laundromat, were not successful." Welcome to Oak Park Best Vacuum. The only place that the township will bill your business as unsuccessful when you open.
