Pool construction will keep Oak Park and River Forest High School from offering its popular summer swim camp programs this summer, the school announced last week.
Taught by high school swimmers, the swim programs have attracted hundreds of community preschool and elementary school-aged students, according to a school statement.
The high school will notify other summer swim lesson providers about the suspension so they can plan for increased enrollment demands in their summer programs.
OPRF's East and West pools are slated for a combined $1.1 million renovation, including painting, deck and pool liner repairs, and improved ventilation and lighting. Repairs are expected to begin May 23 and be completed by the start of the 2005-06 school year.
