Cycle man in town
Join the Oak Park Cycle Club on Thursday, Feb. 17 for a very special program. Stephan Wanger, who departed on a bicycle expedition from Chicago to South America in June 2004, covering more than 7,700 miles to raise money for national and local non-profit organizations, will be a guest of the club. Wanger is affiliated with Aspire to Inspire (A2I) which is engaged in an ambitious program to bring to the public consciousness the mutual relationship between historic World explorations and scientific research for cures, and to highlight distinctive cultures, diversity, communications, fitness and health. He is currently writing a book about his travels and planning for his 2006 world cycling expedition.

The cycling expeditions have been undertaken to benefit non-profits such as the Alzheimer's Foundation of America, American Diabetes Association, Chicagoland Bicycle Federation, Chicago's Multi-Cultural Dance Center, Columbia College Chicago, John David Mooney Foundation, Leukemia Research Foundation, Mother's Against Drunk Driving, The Field Museum, Wikimedia Foundation, and the Working Bikes Cooperative (our own Oak Park non-profit!).

The program takes place at Molly Malone's Pub (in the "Snug"), 6752 Madison Ave., Forest Park at 7:30 p.m. For more information, please call 383-1244.
