Melory D. Mizicko, 72, an Oak Park resident since 1979, died on Jan. 28, 2012 after struggling against illnesses for several months at West Suburban Medical Center. Born on July 7, 1939 to John and Hildegard Mizicko in LaSalle, he enjoyed his childhood years on the familyís farm in Tonica. As a young adult, he made several motorcycle trips to the West Coast.

Generous and patient, he was known for the fabulous flower and vegetable gardens he created. He also enjoyed music, grilling and chocolate. After his retirement, he devoted his time to babysitting his youngest granddaughter, Hana, who delighted in his company.
Mel Mizicko is survived by his wife of 37 years, Anna Mizicko (nee Bech); his children, Adam (Sheryl), Jason (Terri) Stillinger, Juliet, Dawn (Hideki) Oyama, Anthony, Jennifer and Alexander Mizicko; his grandchildren, Raven, Zane, and Pablo Mizicko and Hana Oyama; and his siblings, Joan Piehl, Fr. Robert Mizicko, and Fr. Carroll Mizicko.
