Congratulations to OPRF wrestlers and newly minted state champions Isaiah White, Larry Early, Kamal Bey and Davonte Mahomes, the Wednesday Journal's Athletes of the Week sponsored by Midtown Athletic Club.

White (38-4) won the 138-pound state title and Early (35-7) claimed the 145-pound championship. Bey (39-6) was the 160-pound class champ, while Michigan-bound Davonte Mahomes (44-2) notched the state title at 170 in the IHSA Individual State Tournament at the State Farm Center in Champaign, Il.

"We are successful because of all the hard work we put in and we push each other," Early said. "We are one big family who loves one another."

The Huskies dominated the tournament with four state champions, eight semifinalists and 11 quarterfinalists. OPRF is the prohibitive favorite to win the dual team tournament title in Class 3A this weekend.
