I am a native of South Carolina and moved here several years ago with my wife and family. In short, we love the community and could not be happier. My wife subscribes to your paper, and I read it fairly routinely and appreciate the local interest stories and the like. I like to read Mr. Trainor’s column primarily out of a morbid curiosity. This week, I found the title very offensive. [Praise Lincoln, bury Republicans, Viewpoints, Feb. 11]

I take it he was trying to be cute with the Shakespeare reference, but do we really need to be talking about “burying” people or groups, even in the figurative sense? Maybe Mr. Trainor needs to brush up on his tolerance, something supposedly important in Oak Park.
