I urge all Oak Park voters to attend at least one of the upcoming District 97 school board candidate forums to learn about the candidates and the issues. I believe anyone who does will conclude that Carolyn Newberry Schwartz, the current District 97 board vice president, deserves reelection. Not only is Carolyn knowledgeable, caring, and committed to our children, she is also well reasoned, meticulously prepared, an open listener, and tireless when it comes to getting a job done.
As one who has served on a school board, I can attest that all board members have a few of these qualities, but few have all of them.
District 97 needs experienced and steady leadership on its board, especially during this time of transition to a new superintendent. Keeping Carolyn on that leadership team will be good for our children, our schools, and our community.
