The ballot objection filed by William Sullivan, candidate for the board of the Cicero Township Trustees of Schools, against his opponent, Berwyn resident Isaura Yanez, was overruled by the Cook County Electoral Board last week.

In an Amended Decision dated Feb. 18, the reason given for the board's decision was explained as "for reasons set forth in the record."

Sullivan said he, an attorney who represented himself in the matter, was puzzled by what exactly the reason was for the overruling. He said that during the Feb. 8 hearing of the objection, the board ruled that Yanez did indeed live and was registered at the address she listed on her candidacy forms.

Sullivan said he would not appeal the decision, but would begin campaigning and fundraising.

The open seat on the three-person board has traditionally been filled by an Oak Parker, as the Trustees of Schools controls investments of funds for schools in Cicero, Berwyn and Oak Park.
