I have been involved with the Village Manager Association (VMA) for 37 years, served on many selection and election committees and am proud of the contribution of our elected officials. The VMA is not a political party but a citizen caucus whose prime interest is in good government. The goal is to select candidates not for what they know, but for who they are.
The VMA caucus is made up of Oak Parkers who also believe in good government, the principles of the VMA, and are willing to spend three months interviewing candidates for trustee, president, and clerk.
Fifty percent of the participants are not members of the VMA. Most become members after the experience. This is what has kept the VMA young and vibrant for over 50 years. Five of the thirteen officers and executive committee members were not VMA members three years ago.
Our mission continues: to find, attract, interview, select, and elect candidates that will continue the mission and vision of good government for Oak Park.
On April 5, 2005, we ask for your support and vote for VMA's Oak Park First Slate:President?#34;Diana Carpenter; Clerk?#34;Sandra Sokol; Trustee?#34;Ray Barbosa; Trustee?#34;Dorothy Reid; Trustee?#34;Mas Takiguchi.
