Hubbuch's not funny, or accurate

Your columnist, John Hubbuch, needs to make two apologies for his Jan. 19 column ("Village not off to a good start in the new year"). First to Les Golden, and then to the rest of his readership.

Even a cursory review of the internet would have shown John that Les has Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Physics from Cornell as well as a Master's and a Ph.D. in Astrophysics from U. of C., Berkeley. He is more than well qualified for making his tsunami time shift assertion.

As any true humor writer knows, the humor is in looking at the facts in an offbeat manner, not ignoring them. John falls into his own derision?#34;-he probably can recognize a joke?#34;-and has once in his life written a complete sentence. However, that does not make him a humor writer.

I have read H.L Mencken, Robert Benchley, Erma Bombeck, and Dave Barry?#34;and  John, you are not even close.
