Betty J. Graf, 80, of Appleton, Wis., formerly of Oak Park, died Nov. 29, 2004. She was born Dec. 21, 1923 in La Crosse, Wis. to Carl and Verle Graf. Ms. Graf grew up with her family in La Crosse, where she graduated high school. Following graduation, she attended business college in La Crosse before becoming employed as a secretary at Fort McCoy for a few years and then moving to Chicago.

She spent most of her life in Chicago, where she was employed as an executive secretary for West Suburban Hospital Medical Center in Oak Park. She retired in 1994. While living in Chicago, she was a member of the Oak Park Presbyterian Church and was active in the hospital auxiliary. She remained independent and active until relocating to Appleton in 2002 to live near family.

Betty Graf is survived by her four nephews, Harold R. (Therese) Peaslee, Donald E. (Laurie) Peaslee, David W. (Patty) Peaslee, Carl E. (Denise) Peaslee, and many great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and two sisters, Vera Graf and Caroline (Ernest) Peaslee.

Memorial services with the urn present were held Dec. 3 at Wichmann Funeral Home, in Appleton, Wis. Services were officiated by Hospice Chaplain Jordan Kuczwara. Burial of the Urn took place at the Oak Grove Cemetery in La Crosse. Funeral arrangements were handled by Jones Funeral Services (902-848-2222).

Ms. Graf's family would like to extend thanks to Carolina Manor, her special friend, Gail Sabai, and Theda Care at Home Hospice for their care and concern they showed to Ms. Graf during her illness.

LaVerne Hansen, 64, graduate of Ascension and Siena High School
LaVerne M. Hansen, 64, of Oak Park, died Dec. 1, 2004. Ms. Hansen was a lifelong resident of Oak Park. She was a graduate of Ascension Grammar School and Sienna High School. She spent many years working in the  State of Illinois Mental Health Department.

Ms. Hansen is survived by her daughter, Natasha; her brothers, Fred (Barbara) and Richard; her sisters, Lorraine Hansen and Mary Anne (Michael) Ramey.

Funeral Mass was celebrated Dec.4 at Ascension Church in Oak Park, followed by interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Worth. Funeral arrangements were handled by P. M. Smith & Sons.

Charles Loeb, 90, Oak Park resident, St. Frances of Rome parishioner
Charles R. Loeb, 90, of Oak Park, died recently. Mr. Loeb is survived by his wife, Anna M.; his son, John Hill; and his brother, James Loeb.

Visitation was held Nov. 30, 2004 at Cermak Home for Funerals in Cicero. Funeral services were held Dec. 1, 2004 at St. Frances of Rome Church, followed by interment at St. Joseph Cemetery.
