Rosemary McVean, 90, of Ft. Myers, Fla., died on Nov. 8, 2011, after a brief illness. A resident of River Forest for over 70 years, she attended Oak Park and River Forest High School and Rosary College.
A dedicated realtor and friend to her many clients at both the Gloor and Pilgrim real estate firms, she continued to serve as a certified realtor in Ft. Myers until her recent illness.
Described as fun-loving, highly spirited and devout in her faith, Ms. McVean served in diverse capacities, including Eucharistic minister for decades at St. Luke Church in River Forest. Her passion for gardening and planting roses won her an array of awards, both in Chicago and Ft. Myers. She served as an officer and board member of the Western Chicagoland Rose Society. Among her many interests, she was an active member of numerous organizations, such as the Symphony of OP-RF and the Sea Shell Club.
Rosemary McVean was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Della McVean and her sister, Cecelia. There are no close family survivors, but a host of lifelong friends.
A memorial Mass was celebrated, followed by a reception in Ft. Myers on Nov. 22. An additional memorial service and interment will be officiated by Deacon Terrance Norton of St. Luke Parish on Dec. 10. Those in attendance will meet in the chapel office at noon, followed by a service in the chapel at 12:30 p.m.
