After learning of David Pope’s intention to run for village president, I found myself ecstatic. That may be a bit overstating it, but for sure I was excited.  First, let me explain that, although I regularly vote in local and national elections, I have not been active in campaigns. Instead, I’m really more of a distant observer. That has all changed now that the right candidate is running to lead this great village.

For the last couple of years I’ve tried to observe how this village is governed by watching OP-TV6 and by occasionally attending village board meetings. What I have found is that some people are more concerned with politics and promoting their own agenda than getting things accomplished for the betterment of the people of Oak Park. David Pope’s approach has been one of inclusion, without regard to party or group affiliation. He represents all the people and not just the vocal voices that come before the board, after all, the village is 53,000 strong and most people do not come before the board.

I sincerely think Oak Park will benefit tremendously from someone who has his capabilities and professional approach to problem solving and leadership. His personal ideas might not always be the exact solutions to every problem, but he can certainly facilitate group participation to get to a solution that we all can benefit from.

David Pope is about effective and efficient government and not about being right all the time. Exactly what Oak Park needs. The fact that he hasn’t served two or three terms is a plus in my mind, because he has a fresh approach to government and not one that is tarnished like some veteran politicos.

David Pope is the person to take Oak Park into the future with new, fresh and invigorating ideas that we all can be proud of for many years to come. Let me encourage all those who have not been involved to take this chance and make a difference. Vote for Pope!
