Oak Park police are seeking the public's help in finding a man who reportedly struck a woman with a feces-filled sock as she rode a Blue Line train on Dec. 12.

The eastbound train stopped at Austin Boulevard about 4:50 p.m., according to a police statement. The 21-year-old victim told police the suspect hit her with the object as they both left the el car at the Austin stop. He then fled up the exit ramp and north on Austin.

Oak Park police released photos from CTA security cameras and would welcome the help of citizens in identifying the suspect. The police phone is 708-386-3800. Tips may be left anonymously at 708-434-1636.

seriously guys, can't a guy make a wisecrack about an obviously outrageous story without being accused of insulting the humanity of the world?? Of course all of us Oak Parker's hate guns but lets lighten up and recognize satire for what it is. geez, and don't give me you're " I have kids stuff" we all have kids, and we are all baffled by Conneticut, but let's be adults.

Bill: Sometimes to gain entry into a gang, a unique offense must be committed by the person seeking entry to the gang.,like breaking into a home of a police officer and stealing the officers firearm. The unique offense becomes their ticket to enter the gang.

Can we really expect anything less from a peice of S@&$!

Easy there, "yum." Mr. Slowiak isn't "living off the dole. He has a pension after 30 years patrolling Oak Park streets and handling guys you wouldn't want to deal with. Try to separate that from whatever mistakes he may make here.

I'm applying for a concealed sock permit immediately.

And as far as Slowiak's continuing stupidity on this forum is concerned, I move that anyone who is not pulling their own weight and is living off the public dole, as BS is, have their comments limited to, let's say, 12 per day, as they obviously have too much time on their hands.

"guns aren't really the issue as most rational people will concede when you look at the actual statistics from FBI, DOJ, CDC" LMAO at the continuing gun nut disinfo. Thanks to the NRA the CDC has been prevented from performing any research on guns for almost 20 yrs, ie, there are no stats to look at, which is exactly what gun nuts want, which allows them to flood the void with their gun industry provided nonsense.

The guy who killed those children did not suffer from mental illness. THERE IS A DIFFERENCE. EVIL does NOT equate to mental illness.

Access to mental health care and treatment certainly needs to be part of a comprehensive discussion, Uncommon Sense. How can we, as a nation, prevent unstable individuals from wrecking havoc on society? Those children murdered in their classroom deserve to have our full attention. So it's hard for me to understand how someone finds any merit in that unkind and thoughtless posting. He took at cheap shot and used the tragedy in Connecticut as his punchline.

Good grief. This post is proof positive some people can't think through the text on a bubble gum wrapper. Mr. Jeffry- allow me to point out that if she'd been hit in the head with a 9 mm round, rather than feces, she'd be in far worse shape. And Brian Slowiak- in your 30 years as a cop, did you ever hear of this M.O. used in an initiation? And by a guy in his early to mid- 20s?

There are obviously a lot of crazed bums and homeless. Of course, we don't know what this situation was about, but I have seen some straight looney toon guys on EL, downtown, etc. It doesn't take a pyschiatrist to know they are nutso. I hate to say it, but some of these folks need to be forced into mental wards.

Uncommon Sense

I think the point of Eric's post is that you guys don't want a "thoughtful discussion" because if you actually thought about it, there really would be no discussion to be had as guns aren't really the issue as most rational people will concede when you look at the actual statistics from FBI, DOJ, CDC, etc. what needs to be discussed is mental health and how media coverage may contribute to these wackos wanting to go out in a blaze of glory.

If it happened on December 12, why are we first hearing about it now?

Jim Coughlin

Posted: December 20th, 2012 12:45 PM

I called out the post for being especially cruel and insensitive. Hard to imagine that anyone who has seen the photos of the victims of this tragedy would think it appropriate to toss out a pointless jab at people who believe we all need to participate in a thoughtful discussion on this important issue.

Concerned about violence from Oak Park

Mr. Coughlin, ironically Mr. Jeffrey has hit on something. The issue should be violence in the greater sense and not just guns. What we have in this country is an overall bankruptcy in moral values. Blame the gun, not the gunman.

How would anyone know that it was feces in the sock? Was it left at the seen?

Brian Slowiak from Oak Park

Sounds like a gang initiation to me.

Jim Coughlin

Posted: December 19th, 2012 9:52 PM

I take it your wisecrack about this incident is a dig at people who are seeking a national dialogue on gun violence in wake of the tragedy in Connecticut. Shameful.

Eric Jeffrey

Posted: December 19th, 2012 6:45 PM

I think we all need to write our congressmen immediately and demand action on feces filled sock control. We need regulation, enough is enough

I had quite an interesting trip on the Blue Line yesterday afternoon. Six girls who were so loud and actually stood up and started stomping their feet...OMG, it was surreal.
