Raymond Fiedler, 80, longtime resident of Oak Park and summer resident of Assembly Park in Delavan, Wis., died on Nov. 27, 2013 at Rush University Medical Center. Born on Jan. 26, 1933, he was an active parishioner at Ascension Catholic Church in Oak Park, and it was there that he raised his large family.
In the summer, he could be found sailing on Lake Delavan, where the family spent many wonderful summers. He served for many years as a manager of West Town Heating and Cooling in Oak Park.
Ray Fiedler is survived by his wife and best friend of 58 years, Catherine (nee Quinn); his children, Barb Touchett; Kathleen Gray, Ray, Bob, Michael and Tom Fiedler; 17 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and his siblings Marguerite Crema, Betty Roth, Nancy Ryan and Janet Campbell. He was preceded in death by brother, John Fiedler.
The Fiedler family would like to thank the staff at Rush University Medical Center for their compassion and the excellent care they gave Ray.
Visitation was held on Nov. 1 at Woodlawn Funeral Home in Forest Park. A funeral Mass was celebrated on Dec. 2 at Ascension Catholic Church.
