The OPRF Hockey Club dominated Andrew for most of Saturday's non-conference game to come away with a 5-3 victory.

A key penalty midway through the third period changed the momentum of the game but not the outcome as the Huskies held off the Lightning Bolts during a late-game rally.

Al McDonnel put the Huskies on the board just 11 seconds into the game. Jim Minaghan won the face-off, passed to Dan Locasto who then fed McDonnel for the score.

Less than a minute later, Matt McDonnell found the net with Phil O'Connor assisting on the goal. O'Connor slipped one by the Andrew goalie to finish the scoring in the first period. Matt McDonnell and Brett Newman were credited with assists.

The second period was evenly played with neither team managing a score. The shots on goal through the end of the second period were even at 21 apiece.

The Lightening Bolts opened up the scoring at 10:59 in the third when an Andrew forward sent a wrist shot passed goalie Bob Grayson in the upper right corner of the net. The Huskies fought back but with 7:38 left in the game, the Huskies were hit hard with a penalty that almost cost them the game. The penalty was a major slash that left OPRF with five penalty kill minutes to contend with. During this time, Andrew managed two power play goals. The second goal came with 3:16 left in the game. Al McDonnell took things into hand and managed to score off a pass from brother Matt with a little more than two minutes left.

Zach Smith provided an insurance goal with 48 seconds left, scoring off an assist from Adam Palmore. This was the final goal of the game.

Grayson played a solid game in net for the Huskies, managing 35 saves on 38 shots on goal.
