Currently, we have a $4 million deficit in the village budget, and the major contributors are the “free” garages provided businesses on Oak Park Avenue and the high school. So it makes me wonder who is paying the bill to heat these sidewalks [Why Marion Street’s fancy sidewalks won’t melt snow, WJ Update, Dec. 5]? It also causes me to ask: How “green” is it to use electricity made from burning coal or nuclear power to melt snow?
